I’ll be using both the basic hat pattern and the spikes pattern to make this hat. Lucas loves dinosaurs and it’s a struggle to make him wear a hat during winter… Hopefully this will be the solution!
Hat will be made using red, spikes will be made with green.

Finished the hat and knitted the spikes. Will probably sew them on the hat tomorrow.

With the help of Escherichia I am finishing up a tail! Very simple. Pattern is:
Using same yarn and needle you used to make the hat, cast on aprox. 1/3 of the cast on sts. I say aprox. because since I had cast on 80, my sts would be 27. But you will want an even number of sts, so I cast on 28.
The first and last two sts will have to be or garter or seed st, in order to keep the tail from curling.
After that, it goes like this -
K2, K2tog, K until last 4 sts, K2tog, K2
K2, P, K2
And repeat until you have only one st left.
I added eyelet buttonholes to make my tail removable, but that’s up to you! Just make sure you make the buttonholes spaced even and on the third row of the tail (which is a K row).
Block and add how many spikes you’d like!
