Notes

I had some old mercerized crochet cotton that I got off of ebay to tat with - but the twist was not high enough which made it not very suitable for tatting. I also had a cone of OLD mercerized cotton from a mill that I got at Goodwill. I wondered if these would work to try the dishcloths that I see so many make?

I used 2 strands throughout @ T6 for the tuck, 9 for the slip (or “part” on my Brother). Mine came out the same size as the pattern, so FYI - if you have old crochet cotton (size 30) setting around - it works. I would imagine the other sizes will work but you will need to fiddle with how many strands and your tension. I have some 20 and 10 too. (lots of colors to add an accent stripe here or there!)

Basically the same pattern is found here:

I think I will buy some cotton from them when all of my old stuff runs out as their prices look great - the best I could find.

The dishcloths are super easy to make. I find that I have to have plenty of weight on my cast on comb for tuck and also move a small claw weight up the edge as I go.

I like the one from the cone cotton better than the Clark’s big ball. It is the lighter colored one. :o)

They turn out SO soft. Anyone would enjoy getting these as a gift and I can see them in pastel colors for baby washcloths too!

P.S. photos added - I got BUSY and knitted a couple dozen more, added labels and sell them in my booth at a local craft and antique shop. :-)
