Learned two new techniques: Old Norwegian Cast On / German Twisted CO, which is not that hard, and Norwegian Purling, where the yarn is behind the needles even in the purl stitches. Not difficult at all once you get the hang of it. I am happy about it.
The Water mitten is distinctly longer than the Fish mitten. This would have happened anyway because of my varying tension throughout knitting projects. But now I can blame it on the different colourwork counts and ribbings. Next time I would take this into account and adjust the measures.
My stitches are not very even. For comparable mitten projects I used Meilenweit Merino which seems to be thicker. I could have opted for smaller needles but I was afraid the mitts would have become to small in doing so. And as the mitts are considered to be a surprise there is no possibility for the recipient try them on during the making.
I made some blockers from cardboard and self-adhesive film. They turned out very well and I can’t wait to see my Fishkins once they are dried.
I like the pattern and the various colour combinations it offers.
