About the Yarn

Used the yarn of my Milkweed Sweater for this project since I neither liked the fit of the sweater nor the colour of the yarn on me.
I frogged the sweater and overdyed the yarn in a dye bath made from avocado pits.The fleshy hue I achieved by this wasn’t what I imagined. Soaking the yarn in iron water produced a new, more greyish shade, and I’m very pleased with the result.

I used Rebecca Desnos’ tutorials for my experiment and I wonder what the results would have been like If I had dyed sheep wool since this industrially dyed plant fibres did not absorb the colour well.

About the Sweater

Made up the pattern myself.

• CO 140 sts
• 3 x 3 ribbing
• shaped the neckline with German short rows
• knit in the round with increases on the shoulders
• divided at 150 sts and knit back and front seperately
• some special decreases before sleeves and body BO
• stretchy BO for body and sleeves
