The dress used up every last bit of the KnitCol self-striping yarn, without enough left to put the edging on the sleeves. Rather than opening a second skein, we used the contrast yarn to single crochet around the neckline, sleeves and bottom hem. If you’re worried about yarn usage, it would also be very pretty to knit the waistband rows (42-51) in the contrast color.

Also, to prevent pooling, the skirt portion of the dress was knit in the round. In a yarn with wider stripes this would likely not be as much of an issue, but this KnitCol color way has very narrow stripes and knitting it flat led to a very uneven distribution of colors.

There are several accessories in the pattern including a cardigan, hat and shoes. We chose to knit the little purse, which is the perfect size to hold a pair of sunglasses and a doll-sized smartphone!
