Notes

This design was one of the winners of the Rowan Design Awards in 2013. There is a short interview on with Lucy Jones, the designer, on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvNhg5U2j3g), where she discusses the inspiration and research that was behind her design. It is well worth a watch as she shares why she chose the colours that she did and what the fair isle designs represent, including carrots and tractor tyre marks! Now knowing all of this has really brought this pattern to life for me and made me love it all the more.

28/11 - The back and nearly 2/3rds of the front of this jumper is now knitted. So far I am really liking it and hopefully it will be finished in time for Christmas. Only complaint so far is that the bobble rows take an age to knit. I am glad that I am only knitting the small that’s for sure. The photos of the back and the close up are before blocking.

10/12 - Both the front and back are complete now. It’s onto the sleeves which I knitting both at the same time. This was a tip I read about on Ravelry (sorry I can’t remember where) but it’s one I always follow if I can now. It saves time and you obviously don’t get second sleeve syndrome.

20/1 Added more photos to show the comparison between the front (blocked) and the back (unblocked). Stitches have evened and flattened nicely. I think that I could have knitted the reverse stocking stitch a bit better but hopefully it won’t be too noticeable on the finished jumper. Just started the shaping at the top of the sleeves. I was definitely being over ambitious thinking that I would get it finished for Christmas!

23/7 Summer 2015 and I have finally got around to updating this project and adding photos of the finished jumper, including some close ups after blocking. It fits beautifully and I wore my Land Girl a lot during the late winter and spring. I know that it will get plenty more wear when it cools down again.
