I bought the yarn for these jumpers at Yarndale in 2017 from Martin’s Lab where his wife the lovely Justyna aka Letes Knits helped me pick the colours. I told her the sort of colours I was wanting and this is what she came up with. I think that it makes a beautiful fade, perfect for these three sisters. Five skeins, one of each colour was just the right amount for my swatch and the jumpers with between 5 and 20 grams of each colour left. These have not gone to waste and have been gifted for a scrap blanket.

Andrea’s pattern was very easy to follow and the only change to her instructions that I made was to make the fade between the pale and dark pink slower. There was more of a contrast between these two colours and I didn’t want the fade to look too stripey. I knitted 1 row of the new colour, then 2 of the old 3 times followed by 2 rows of the new and 1 row of the old twice.

After looking at the finished dimensions of the different sizes for the two older girls I knitted bigger sizes that I would have done if I had just gone by their ages. For Sophie who was 81/2 I knitted the age 10 and for Chloe who was 51/2 the age 8. They are not particularly tall girls and they fit them well with a small amount of growing room.
