Knitting this for a friend from Durham… I mean, Hogwarts ♥︎ ♥︎ ♥︎ She saw mine and wanted one immediately… but I couldn’t find the time until the Xmas Holidays… =D

Mods:

• Using smaller needle for a smaller person than I.

• Knitting all IN THE ROUND till shoulders. Knitting sleeves in the round as well.

Cast on and knit the round in grey, then joined in CC1, knit 71 sts, wrapped&turned, knit 71, joined red yarn knit 71, w&t, knit 71, joined CC2 (while also twisting the strands), and so forth. (See the pictures for details.)

• Same length, but tighter because of the smaller gauge.

• Knitting in ends as I go, so I only have to sew the last two strands for the sleeves.

• Picked up extra 8 sts for the hood, otherwise it would be waaay to small (learned from the first time I’ve knitted it), and picked them up before the neck decreases, this way the edge is all straight.

• Did not do the garter edge: I was very unhappy with how it came on the first version, it all curled up on the inside and looked unsightly… it now curls in anyway, but looks prettier.

• Added extra 6 sts for the arms: on my first hoodie the sleeves were a bit tight (perhaps I’ve knitted them tighter? I don’t know). But now they are perfect, loose enough to wear another layer underneath. Also, decreased every 10 sts x 10.

• Carefully tucked in the (very few) strands of yarn on the “wrong” side, in order to make it reversible!! I love it!!

• Noted down the time I’ve spent knitting (I was curious: I always say it takes “no time at all”, as I am quick, but that is a bit exaggerated…). It took me some 30-35 hours since casting on to weaving in ends for sleeves. Sometimes I’ve knit quite fast, other times lazily while watching Downton Abbey (or something). I guess it doesn’t take “no time at all”, but overall, and all things considered, I don’t think it takes that much either… =)

• Used definitely less yarn than stated, but haven’t kept track of it unfortunately…

It looks absolutely stunning! Pretty and flawless (I’ve learned a lot from the experience of the first). AND knitting in the round+weaving in ends as I go means When I am done knitting, the garment is ready to wear… great satisfaction (I hate finishing and sewing if not necessary). =)

I hope my friend will like it as much as I do… although… it fits me so well and I like it so much… I don’t want to give it away!!!! Arghh….
