I have been working on this scarf for years! I am hoping some day to finish;) It’s a very fine silk thread and the knitting is sloooowwww!
9/25/12 I pick this scarf up every fall and start to knit a few rows, hoping to get to wear it before fall is over. Then before I know it, I have put it aside to start working on xmas presents or whatnot and, once again, it languishes for another year. This year, I’ve been taking this scarf to my Sunday knitting group and managing to get a little done each week. I just picked it up today, draped it around my neck and discovered that I am almost there! About 20 more rows. I slid the remaining beads (that I’ve been carefully guarding for the last 10 years) onto the end of the yarn and rewound it. I have about 20 rows to go:)
9/27 I finished last night. After I cast off I held it up and discovered a problem. About 12 inches from the end I had switched from straight needles to circular - same size - but it was an obvious change in gauge! I can’t bring myself to frog it and try again. I don’t think anyone but a knitter is going to notice. I’m blocking it right now, and hopefully it will be better tomorrow. I can’t wait for a cold day so I can wear it. It feels luxurious around my neck, weird gauge or not:)
10/2 After blocking the scarf the gauge difference is much harder to notice, and then only if it’s spread out. When it’s draped around my neck it looks fine. I want to just leave it. The ocd part of my brain is really struggling with this, but I want to leave it the way it is.
