Decided to cast on socks with this beautiful yarn, to cheer myself up on a “brainfogged” day. I was impatient and wound and divided the ball without weighing, just broke off when they felt of equal weight, and I’d reached the right bit of the self-striping - turns out I had one ball 1/3 of the skein, other 2/3…
As I knit toe-up, TAAT socks, I just kept going until I ran out of yarn.
Pattern is my own: 30 st. temporary cast-on picked up from crocheted chain, short-row toe with double/triple wraps, start knitting in the round, do 2nd toe and place on circ using Magic Loop, I really like that the toes are so GREEN !
I did a simple spiral rib K3,P1 shifting the purl st. 1 place every 4 rows. The purl st. in every “new” pattern row are ktbl, this makes a smaller “bump” inside the sock. Mirrored the spirals, sole of the sock is smooth st.st.
Though both socks were started at the exact same point in the striping, one crept “ahead” in colour by half a row, and higher up, by a full row = 1 row white visible before heel starts on sock B (at bottom in picture), but not on sock A. At the ribbing, decided to start K1,P1 at the same point in the striping = leg 1 row shorter on sock B, MUCH less noticeable than ending ribbing in different colours would be.
It looked like I’d end the ribbing beautifully with a blue cast-off, when suddenly, on my bigger ball there was a KNOT ! I was using EZ’s sewn bind-off, so laboriously had to undo this for 2/3 of sock B and half of sock A.
This yarn does NOT like to be frogged or manipulated too much.
Decided to use JSSBO for the first time, after frogging 1 row of the rib, but this bind-off EATS yarn, so again, had to undo it and start bind-off 1 row earlier. The working yarn was now looking a bit worse for wear, but it’s no longer noticeable after washing, the scratchiness disappeared too. LOVE the stretchy BO, will use again !
Socks were washed, then dried in tumble dryer on low heat, and are beautiful and warm.

Learned JSSBO, invented spiral rib pattern.
