I knitted the Incredible Expanding Gnome Cap according to the pattern. And since I still had yarn left, I decided to add socks and mittens.
Below are basic instructions for the socks and mittens - this is not a pattern, just instructions for someone experienced with knitting socks.
Preemie socks
Cast on 35 stitches, join to work in the round. Knit three rounds in pattern 3 knit, 2 purl.
Start working repeats of the incredible expanding gnome cap-pattern; 6 repeats.
The heel flap is knitted using 20 stitches, make sure the heel flap is aligned so that the first and last stitches of the heel flap is knitted on top of a purl stitch. Work the heel flap for 10 rows and make the heel turn: knitt 11k, ssk, 1k, turn. 4p, p2tog, 1p, turn, etc.
Pick up 5-6 stitches along the heel flap on each side. While continuing in pattern on the instep, decrease every second round until you reach a total of 30 stitches. Knit until the sock is ca 6-7 cm from the back of the heel.
Decrease 6 stitches every round, when there are 6 stitches left, cut the yarn and pull it through the stitches. Make another one :-)
Preemie mittens
Cast on 30 stitches and join to work in the round. Knit three rounds in pattern 3 knit, 2 purl.
Start working repeats of the incredible expanding gnome cap-pattern; 4 repeats. Continue in stockinette stitches for 4-5 cm.
Decrease 6 stitches every round, when there are 6 stitches left, cut the yarn and pull it through the stitches. Make another one :-)
