After trying different yarns to stash bust and failing at four attempts, I returned to my delicious wool heap and got started. Met gauge for stitches but not for rows, so the yoke is slightly longer. Followed the pattern as instructed but with these mods:

• Knitted (not ribbed) the hems at neck, cuffs, and bottom and then folded and stitched down by hand.

• Added six German short rows to the back just above the change of needle size.

• Folded button band (not a steek sandwich). Picked up stitches with right side facing, knit flat a few rows - enough to cover the steek mess - then one row of purl on the right side, continue to work flat, then crocheted live stitches to the back of the picked up stitches I created to make the band. Love how this finish makes the inside so tidy.

Here is a Youtube video of the designer instructing on how to crochet steek using only one steeking stitch as in this pattern. I’ve used this method in the past and also on this sweater with great results.

Another Youtube video I found for the button loops. It was easy to learn, and I could create the exact size of loops I desired.
