Notes

This was a delightful project.

The yarn is created from the Romney wool and mohair grown on Disdero Ranch located in the Central North Thompson Valley of British Columbia. If you are interested in the ranch, www.disderoranch.com.

Project knit as per pattern, but with these gentle modifications:

  • Joined in the round inside out and knit one extra round in seed rib.
  • Knitted vest inside out as others mentioned to enjoy more knits than purls.
  • Separated stitch patterns with colour markers, using a distinguished marker for beginning of round.
  • Entire project knit in the round by adding 5 steek stitches to armholes and neckline, decreasing stitches one stitch in from edges.
  • Secured the steek with crochet chain and later a felting needle lightly around edges to tuck and secure ends.

I found this yarn was easy to knit with, but the look of the project as I progressed gave me doubts - uneven stitches and not a smooth look to it. Once it was finished, however, a two-hour long soak with Soak wool wash completely transformed it into what you see in the photos. All doubts are gone, and the vest is left with a sumptuous drape.
