Tried to make a swatch and match the gauge beforehand - which was a big mistake. I decided to use size 3mm needles and knit loosely - worked out allright for the ribbing but as soon as I got to the first stripe it was all off and very clear I needed to downsize. Redid the first 5 rows of the main body (after the stripes) 3 times before deciding it wasn’t a perfect science. Currently on 32 st per 10 cm.
If you happen to read this before picking these up as well, you’re better off using your preferred needles and trying to get to the main pattern to decide what you need to use, instead of making a swatch.
On another note, this is my first sock ever. It would probably turn out better if I knew how to adapt the pattern to actually be comfy to a foot.
The toe is way too pointy (and I need to redo the graft cos it’s wonky and I think I reversed it so it looks like purled stitches somehow??). I might finish the heel with 18 or 20 stitches or smth idk.
- changed the toe to end with 20 stitches, as well as the heel. Looks less goofy.

Finished!
Firstly, I find them quite ugly irl. I think part of that is because the leg part is too short, the ribbing too loose/too short as well.
It also turned out pretty big. I wear a size 38 EU, for which the pattern calls to add 5 extra rounds to the toe - I omitted all of them, which according to the instructions would result in a size 36 - highly disagree with that.
On top of that they are a little on the loose side. It doesn’t help that you can’t change the amount of stitches you work with.
That said, I am stoked to get working on socks with actual good patterns that I can change according to my needs!
