Notes

I am knitting this as a wedding shawl for my SIL. Since I have more yarn than the pattern calls for, I plan on doing an extra repeat of Chart 2.

I finished the first repeat of Chart 2 with 88 grams of yarn remaining and the second repeat with 51 grams remaining, so I decided to do half of a third repeat and switch the directions on the cables for Chart 3. I probably should’ve gone up a needle size, knowing how tight of a knitter I usually am…

I ended the third repeat of the first half of Chart 2 with 29 grams of yarn remaining (I’m anticipating I’ll need to find a matching black yarn for the very end). When I counted back to figure out if I needed any additional stitches at the beginning/end of each row to transition into Chart 3 easily, I didn’t take into account the lack of YOs at the end of Chart 2, while they continue through the halfway point I was ending at. I continued doing them and added 3 stitches on the right side (M1R on the 6th stitch from the side) and two on the left side (M1L on the 5th stitch from the side) to make it balance out. I realized that the transition into Chart 3 would look a bit wonky with random decreases and YOs at the two edges of Chart 2, so as I did the final WS row of Chart 2 (Row 18), I tinked back the stitches at the beginning and end of each chart for the previous 8 rows and made it into a basic stockinette section with no YOs or decreases.

Starting at Row 20 in Chart 3, I decided to make all the stitches outside of the points and cables purls (rather than knitting on the sides of the points). I ended up running out of Loli in the middle of Row 21 of Chart 3. I switched to the Adorn Luxe at a cable and hid the knot behind it. I decided to do an Icelandic Bind Off to make sure it’s stretchy enough.
