Official Project Song: “Schade, Schade, Schokolade”
What a perfect pattern for travel knitting! I made a few changes, though…
- For the increases, I used M1L on the RS and M1R on the WS to make the edges a bit more solid in appearance.
- I knit the lace sections in stockinette with a 3-stitch garter edge on each side.
- I used double YOs to help open up the lacework.
- I knit the garter section before the final lace chart 20 times instead of 16.
- By the end of the final chart, I got worried I would run out of yarn, so instead of knitting another row of stockinette as I had done in the other charts, I went right into the final garter section.
- I knit a few extra rows of the final garter section and stopped after a right side row to make three garter ridges on the right side (which would become four with the bind off).
- I followed Wickerdoodle’s project for binding off with a picot edging: I bound off on the wrong side using a stretchy crochet bind off (which gave me the final, fourth garter ridge), crocheted the eyelet row with three chained stitches instead of the four Wickerdoodle had (sc, ch3, sc in 2nd sc BO st from hook, across), turned, and crocheted the final picot edging (sc in ch loop, ch3, sl st in first ch st, sc in loop, across)
It looks a bit like a pile of pasta at the moment, but I think it’ll turn out really well after blocking. Now to add it to the pile of projects to block…
Blocked!
