Did not modify pattern at all. The two halves of the circle look flat but stuff out to the proper size if you do it nice and firm.

A bit disappointed in the magnets. They did seem “super strong” until I put them in the nubs, and then they didn’t have as much of a stick. I’m ordering some rare earth magnets for this katamari which is a gift and using the Darice ones for a katamari for myself.
