4/16/13 I’m finally knitting this beautiful sweater for my little guy. He loves green and I’ve been hoarding this Cash Iroha for myself (which I’ve never gotten around to using and I’m tired of looking at). I realized that instead of it rotting away in my stash until I find something I want to do with it, I should absolutely knit it up into a sweater for my hand-knit-loving little boy. It’s beautiful yarn and it deserves to be worn :)
4/17/13 Well, after swatching I realized that I can’t comfortably hit gauge with this yarn. It’s just too loose so I’ve switched to my long-stashed Blackstone Tweed. I hit gauge on my first try and I think this is going to be lovely in this pattern.
4/18/13 Okay, so I decided to use my Blackstone Tweed and I loved it, but my 6-year vetoed the color :( Looks like I’m using the Vintage Chunky on a smaller needle to hit gauge. At least it will be washable.
4/19/13 so far, so good. Loving all the detail and thought put into this pattern, particularly the layout and the option for buttons (which I opted for).
4/23/13 I just finished the body and am now working the hem. tried it on and it fits wonderfully. I did make one modification to the pattern; I worked 4 rows without increasing once I’d reached the correct number of stitches, to give a deeper arm hole. He is very sensitive to anything being too close to his underarm. Otherwise I’ve knit this exactly as written.
4/25/13 I finished the body today and ordered anchor buttons from Katrinkles’ etsy shop. Can’t wait to put them on.
4/29/13 sewing on the best buttons in the whole world and weaving in the ends. I had to extend the sleeves by 1.25 inches to fit Alex’s longer-than-average arms. He loves it!
