My apologies to Jacqueline for the modifications I made to her great pattern. I hope I did it justice. I had completed Patricia Renwick’s American Girl Stepping Out! cardigan and needed a beret to go with it and Jacqueline’s pattern fit the bill.

Revisions: Because I was stranding, I worked in the round starting with 66 st and increasing every second stitch then one additional stitch at the end to make 100. Did a twisted k1p1 rib on the band and cabled C2f, k2 every 6 rows to match the sweater. I did use only a 3.75mm needle as the larger size.

I began to run out of the black yarn so I had to do decreses in that section early. I was left with only 2 ft of black yarn and that is with splicing to another couple of yards of a different yarn.

I look forward to doing this one more time without the stranding and using the pattern cable. Nice easy knit with great effect.
