Very nice project. I haven’t cabled in ages and am surprised at how much I missed doing it.

Revised the width to 34 stitches to accommodate a knitted on I cord (instructions below) and only did 2 stitch BO for buttonholes but put in 4 rather than 3.

I cord
RS Row: K first 3 stitches, pattern to last 3 st. Yarn to back (WS) then slip last 3 stitches.

WS Row: P first 3 stitches, pattern to last 3 stitches. Yarn to front (WS) then Slip last 3 stitches.

This will make a neat I cord edge.

Sept 12: Completed. Fun knit…nice results…great gift. Having said that, if I knitted this again, I would use 4.5 mm needles for the ribbing. Just need to block, add some of Baba’s vintage buttons and take a photo.
