Notes

I’ve finally finished this! I abandoned my cobweb mohair version and went with lace weight linen. I modified the size medium to 135 rows for the body and 144 rows (or so) for the sleeves. This is because of my gauge with size 8 needles. A friend said it looks like “regeneration”. I started doing the slipped stitch crochet seam but abandoned it infavor of sewn seaming methods for stockinette.

A note on the pattern—while the sleeves have shaping, the torso doesn’t. It would be simple to add increases and decreases at the edges, as with the sleeves, to add waist shaping, although I did not do so. If I were to knit this again, I would add some waist shaping in.

I’ve taken this project all over the place, including in a 50 mile solo backpacking trip, where I had to whittle a cable needle out of a twig because I’d forgotten to bring one. Come to think of it, for this project, I’ve used a cocktail umbrella stem, a hair pin, a twig, a coffee stir straw, and sometimes nothing at all in place of a forgotten cable needle. I’ve always taken pride in finding a way to make it work.
