Notes

A note about beads:
The designer added pearl (traditional gift) beads to this square in honor of the 30th anniversary of Cascade Yarns®. Adding beads is totally OPTIONAL. Beads can be purchased from your local bead or craft store. The beads used by the designer had a pearl finish but any size 5/0 seed beads will can be substituted for a different look.

Sixteen beads are needed to follow the option in the pattern. If you choose to use beads it is important that you string them on the yarn before casting on. Simply thread your working yarn through a yarn needle, string on 16 beads, and keep them pushed down and out of the way until they are used.

Special Stitches:
sl-k2-psso: Slip 1 stitch, k2, pass the slip stitch over the k2 –1 stitch decreased.

Please note, there is no k2tog in this stitch. It decreases by one stitch; that being the slip stitch as it is passed over.

Here is a video demonstrating the stitch: SL-K2-PSSO STITCH VIDEO

Lace Pattern Stitch—stitch count per row:
After casting on, block is a total of 50 stitches across; 5 for the right edge, 40 for the Lace Pattern Stitch, and 5 for the left edge. After working Row 1 of the Lace Pattern Stitch, 5 stitches are added for a total stitch count of 55 (5 for each edge and 50 for the Lace Pattern Stitch). Row 2 will continue with the 55 stitches.
