I’m using three strands held together to substitute for ww yarn, I’m in love with this yarn. I feel a little guilty using so much on this, but it’s a gift so I’m not overly worried about that, though I do look forward to using my other colors in more delicate patterns.
Made it to rnd 11 and have decided I think it’s going to turn out too small, so I’m going to increase some more. I saw some notes to use rnds 9&10 as additional increase rnds before starting the blackberry stitches, but I’m not frogging back, I’m just going to increase from this point forward.
Rnd 10: as written
Rnd 11: sc in next st, (2 sc in next, sc in next 3 sts) around. Join with sl st.
Rnd 12: sl st in next st, (ch 2, dc in next) counts as dc2tog , sk next, work (4 fpdc around fpdc 2 rows below, sk next st, dc2tog, sk next) around.
Rnd 13: sc around join w/sl st
Rnd 14 substitute: sl st in next 2 sts (ch 2, dc in next) counts as dc2tog , sk next, work (4 fpdc around fpdc 2 rows below, sk next st, dc2tog, sk next) around.
Continue as written (with substitutions) until the brim.
Brim: work rows of 56 sts instead.
I’m pretty happy with how the hat turned out. I think I made the body a little too long, but only by a smidge so I’m not going to worry about it. It’s super warm and cozy! I finished it off with some handmade aspen wood buttons I’ve been hoarding.
After I started the hat I found out it’s this month’s challenge on The Crochet Crowd…two birds with one stone!
