My friend needed a hat for her baby boy now that the weather is changing… Aunt Yarn (and her stash) to the rescue!!! Loved this pattern and choosing from my beloved stash to help her out…
I definitely needed to swatch, at least the cast-on… stitch-counts are mostly for suggestion - finished diameter will definitely depend on the yarn and your personal tension ‘style’.

The double Latvian Braid was interesting… the 2nd one didn’t have a ‘set-up’ round - so the center ‘purl bits’ are actually carried up from the first braid… Interesting effect.
I continued the pattern during the decrease rounds as much as I could but, in the last few rounds, I used a bit of fuzzy-ball novelty yarn for the crown!
If I do this one again, I will probably add some knit rows in between the decrease rows initially to slope the top a bit more - as is, it’s a bit too ‘flat’ on top. Picky Picky.
