Challenging knit - didn’t make deadline due to needing to give it lots of undivided attention, which RL didn’t allow. DO pick colors with high contrast (see samples) - but I think this would even work well for fingering or DK yarn if you wanted something less bulky. Can’t wait to finish and show it off!

Had to restart 2nd time… had occasional blips along the edges. Important to remember 1st stitch ALWAYS slipped purlwise and last stitch ALWAYS purled. Must. Be. Consistent. :) Once you get the hand of the established pattern, it goes much more easily (even with the color change version - which offsets the pattern by 2 stitches relative to each other). VERY cool!

Stage one complete - Straps joined and increases and zigging the zag… Where to next, Sulu? :D

2/26/14 - 3 am…. Got hole #2 done… I think I need to go to bed now :) Needed to make sure to cast off tightly (last pictures)

2/28/14 - Finally starting to look like a real cowl… took it to a concert last night to work on and got a couple of complements :)

3/8/14 - blocking complete and stitched together. Almost impossible to kitchener stitch ‘in pattern’ - will probably just sew together cast on/cast off edges in the future. I love the way the cotton yarn feels and looks and can’t wait to show it off. Pictures tomorrow!
