Back scrubber to ‘try out’ Scrubby yarn… Label says that you can make washcloths made out of JUST the Scrubby - but that seems like a) it wouldn’t hold much water and b) it might be a bit rough for my skin - especially the handles. Mixed it with the Grace cotton and it fluffed up nicely and gets good and soapy! Probably didn’t need to do the sections with the bigger needles - the smaller gauge would’ve been just fine due to mixing with the cotton yarn.
Methodology: with smaller needles, cast on 11 stitches: Knit until long enough (about 30-40 rows) a modified garter stitch handle:
RS: K all stitches. Turn.
WS: K2, P7, K2. Turn.
When ‘long enough’, starting with a RS row, Knit across, then continue to pick up the bottom of the cast-on to make a total of 22 stitches. Turn.
Add the Scrubby yarn to the cotton yarn, and knit with both yarns at the same time. After about 10 rows (5 garter ridges…) I switched to the larger needles. and knit another 10 rows. Repeat these two sections until you can stretch the main area behind your back - or you’re running out of Scrubby… Knit another handle with cotton yarn only, starting with the first 11 stitches - just like the other handle… Reserve the remaining 11 stitches until the # of rows matches the first handle… Knit the end of the handle to the last 11 stitches by knitting together and binding off 2 stitches at a time (one from the scrubber together with one from the handle… etc.) (I used a circular needle - so just slid the groups of stitches around until the were lined up the right way…) PM me if this is confusing.
