Hubby loves them! He says they’re warm, comfy and, because of the added ribbing, fit his wide feet and calves very well. (The top photo is of my feet, because he was tired of modeling. If they look too big on my ladies’ size 8 1/2s, it’s because they are.)

Made the following mods:
Co 60
Add two sets of ribbing, one on each side of the main “top of foot” cable.
On the left foot the middle cable in row 37 is reversed.
Heel flap is worked over 32 stitches.
Top of foot is 30.
heel turn:
row 1- sl1, k17, ssk, k1, turn
row 2- sl1, p5, p2tog, turn
Continue in this fashion, slipping 1st stitch, work to one before the gap, work 2tog over gap, k1 or p1 until all heel stitches are finished.
18 remain
Pick up 11 stitches on each side of heel flap.
Decrease back to 60 total.
Do 3 repeats of chart b + 2 additional rows of chart b to close off the last diamond shape.
toe:
Repeat rnds 1 & 2 until 40 stitches remain.
Repeat rnd 1 until 16 stitches remain.
