Notes

This yarn is so squishy when knit, I hope a bath will not destroy that quality. The colors are vibrant, a joy to look at. I knit on 7.5 mm to get a firm fabric, but I think for stockinette it can easily go beyond 8 mm, I don’t understand the 5-8 mm recommended by the manufacturer. Final judgement after wash.

It is a single ply with a firm twist without loosing it’s softness. The strand feels as if the surface god ever so slightly felted although it doesn’t look like it. The finished fabric has good stitch definition with an aura surrounding it - I am getting spiritual now, watch out! The question is will this aura turn into pill, will it settle into the fabric or will wash and wear not touch this effect? More after the bath.

Here and now I have to decide which color combo? The maritime option - more classic in style or the Happy YOMO, I like the look very much and it is as close as it gets to the Daniela Gregis shawl …

My start, the red triangle, so velvety and wooly soft, so wonderful vibrant, simply a classic red, not orange not blue just a deep brilliant red, I am in love! After the shawel planing on knitting a vest, set against a darker background it will be like a beacon in the night, you will be a star not a starlet, promise!

Sorry Happy YOMO I chicken out, I go the maritime option, Pink and I disagree too much. There will be a day I enter the pink realm but not this time.

Knitting the 4. color I discover that the different colors are a different yarn weight = ergo the recommendation of 5 - 8 mm, which makes it hard to use multiple colors in the same garment without adjusting needle size which in turn will affect dimensions. Red and blue have produced a dense, squishy fabric whilst the dark and light grey are clearly thinner and I struggle to maintain the fabric. I will carry on regardless to see if these qualities even out during the initial wash - hope beyond hope?

Finished size:
65 cm x 162 cm before blocking
70 cm x 187 cm after blocking

5 skeins = 2 red, 1 blue, 1 light grey, 1 dark grey
Used 7.5 mm for body, 5.5 mm for I-cord
Left over 2g light grey, 20g red

Finished with I-cord for nice edge. The shawl sits on the shoulders all by itself, nicely warming, perfect for cool mornings or when you happen to sit under an aircon duct. It is totally squishy, I love it and now comes the challenge: First bath! Will it bleed, red normally does, will it deflate, some yarns do, will it expand and turn into a flat fabric, shouldn’t it’s not superwash. More later …

No bleed, it gained in 25 cm width and only 5 cm in length as I hoped have hoped for, the I-cord sits straight with enough flex for wrapping. Fabric still squishy, the little end-nupps add fun to the shawl.
