It’s done and I am amazed, ASA, learn to handle it and be happy ever after, it’s Linen but it does not behave as such. I used other Linen with a Fiber mixture like this and they have nothing on this yarn. Let’s call this yarn a Game Changer:

  • No Shrinkage, what you knit is what you get!
  • kind to the hands when knitted
  • kind to the body whilst worn
  • soft fabric with bounce, you hear right it does bounce, not a lot but
it’s there, enough to make this shirt feel as if there is room to move and
    no set boundaries.
  • It’s fluid, it doesn’t need to be worn into submission over 3 generations.
  • Fitted Garment: Can do because the fabric has built in room to move, did I mention bounce? This is unheard off!
  • Pill? What pill? No Pill! Nothing!
  • Shape shift from knit to wash: loosing width from 57 cm to 55 cm gaining length from 65 cm to 72 cm
  • Gauge: 24SX32R after wash on 3.5mm
  • slightly see through fabric with 3.5 mm could do 3.0 mm if you are able to keep an even tension with the breaks just slightly engaged. Added Benefit: Makes Knitting faster … ohm
  • Sewing in pesky ends? Never! Because knit at all times with 2 ends, just trippleknit for 6 stitches and snip the ends off after the wash, nothing could be easier!
  • It will bias whilst knit in the round, after being washed it’s gone. Doesn’t bias back and forth.
  • My Top ended up as Tunic and the CO has not enough weight to make it drape nice, I recommend to start with an I-cord if you go for A-line / drape.
  • Because it is not a stiff fabric you have to frame your neckline / Armhole. I recommend I-cord in which you also can hide the ends that need sewing in, otherwise they are visible.
  • I used my true and tested bath method, hot and heavy handed = unmoved! Dye came out, not a lot, no changes in colour noticeable in the garment. Looks to me this will be just the first time round, rinse ran clear. I might attempt gentle mashinewash.

Couldn’t help myself after seeing all these fab Ombre Projects and finding the perfect yarn / fabric Combo I had to cast on for the sleeveless Top.

In terms of fabric all is knit on 3.5 mm
Fabric knit with 1 Strand only I find rather thin but if you are after just a whiff of something over the skin, this would be it and due to the Linen it makes a flexible yet sturdy fabric - no worries here to pull a strand and wreck the fabric - with a nice handle due to the silk.

To work it in 2 Strands adds a rich deep color without loosing any of the above qualities and opens up the color pallet, allowing for an ever expanding Ombre Effect. Your imagination is your boundary.

3 strands are getting in 4ply territory, comparable to Katia Lino100% or Shibui Linen, but with even more color choices and create a sturdy fabric with little give. Due to the silk content I venture to say it never will be as hard / rough as pure linen without loosing any of the other characteristics of that fiber.
