Photos will follow as soon as I can sneak in some time without her during daylight hours. This might take a while.

For my daughter as a Christmas gift we are building a basket of play food and assorted kitchen related items. Since there will be quite a few items and I don’t have the patience to pop each into Rav individually, I figured I’d do a batch project.

Individual items:

Fruits and Vegetables:

Strawberries -- 3mm hook, Hayfield Bonus DK in Red, Patons Diploma Gold DK in Green. Pattern is from Tasty Crochet, available free.

Lemon and Lime -- 3mm needles, Patons Diploma Gold DK for the lime, some handspun Shetland for the lime. Pattern is Lemonlime.

Tomato -- 3mm needles, Hayfield Bonus DK in Red, Patons Diploma Gold DK in Green. Pattern is from Amigurumi Knits. Pattern link.

Aubergine -- 3mm needles, Hayfield Bonus DK in Green, Sirdar Crepe DK in Aubergine. Pattern is from Amigurumi Knits. Pattern link.

Breakfast items:

Fried Eggs -- 3mm crochet hook, Hayfield Bonus DK in white and bright yellow. Pattern is a free download called Sunny Side up Tawashi.

Bacon -- 3mm crochet hook, Hayfield Bonus DK in deep red and sand. Pattern is improvised using single increases and decreases to create the ripples and a combination of slip stitches, sc and dc.

Sandwich Bits:

Toast/Sliced Bread -- Wholewheat, naturally. :) 3mm crochet hook, Hayfield Bonus DK in a wheat colour for main, Patons Diploma Gold DK in Honey for the crust. I basically made a square of sc stitches, and then in my last row used longer stitches to help the top ‘rise’. I did a sc around the perimetre of the bread with the crust colour then join two ‘bread’ pieces together with a sc (dc along the top) which helped make a firmer slice of bread.

Lettuce -- 3mm hook, Patons Diploma Gold DK in Apple Green. Pattern is Lettuce leaf. Changed the last round to have less increases, alternating between sections of 3 dc per dc and 1 or 2 dc per dc as I was finding my lettuce leaf just a wee bit too ruffly.

Sliced Tomatoes -- 3mm hook, Hayfield Bonus DK in Red with a wee bit of Cygnet 4ply for the ‘seeds’. Pattern is from Delicious Sandwich.

Desserts:

Cookies -- 3mm crochet hook, Hayfield Bonus DK in white and light brown, Patons Diploma Gold DK in black and dark brown. Pattern is Santa’s Cookies.

Cherry Pie -- 3mm crochet hook, Hayfield Bonus DK in light brown and red. Pattern is Cherry Pie.

Ice Cream -- 3mm needles, Hayfield Bonus DK in light brown, pink and Patons Diploma Gold in Espresso. Used the sugar cone with a double scoop. Pattern is Scooped.

Other:

Sushi -- 3mm needles, assorted sock yarns. Pattern is Sushi.
