July 15
I’m having to use a 60’’ circular needle. This is a Lot of stitches.

Today Dan tried on the start of the neck. It looked good, was a good width for getting over his ears, but the proportion of the triangles meant that the dreaded Adam’s Apple choke had come into being. So I re-did the triangles (again) Once I get this part figured out, the rest of the sweater will be so easy.
June 30 I thought I had all the neck sizes figured out, but then I started connecting the text to the shoulders, and no, I need to redo the necks. Well, it’s cheaper if I find the problem than if a TE finds a problem.
June 18th I finished the spreadsheet of what measurements i’ll be using for the schematics and stitch calculations. According to LibreOffice, I’ve spent 3 hours editing it, and made 15 revisions. I would have estimated fewer hours, but breaking it up into small chunks is partly how I keep myself from feeling overwhelmed.
Also, the data will come in handy the next time I design a men’s sweater. I used the CYC numbers, measured my husband and son and compared their favorite sweaters to their body measurements to see how much ease they like, and how their measurements stack up with CYC.
I’ve let the swatch travel around with me in my purse, it feels like it’s drawn in since it dried, like it wants to be yarn thirsty and bouncy. Fine. I won’t measure the gauge until it’s quit playing around.
June 14, 2018 I started the initial swatch, the yarn ball calls for size 6 needles, I needed size 4 (crazy loose stitches). Dan felt the swatch, and remarked, “I can’t always tell from a swatch if I will like a sweater, but this is going to be really good.”
