ROW 2: SS into first chain-2 space; CH 2, 2 DC in same space; CH 1;
in next chain-2 space (3 DC, C1) (7x);
SS in top of 1st CH 2

ROW 3: CH 2, 2 DC in next DC, 1 DC in 3rd DC;
CH 2, DC in next DC, 2 DC in 2nd DC, DC in 3rd DC (7x);
YO, draw up a loop into top of first CH 2 and DC (creates last “CH-2” space), SS into CH-2 space

ROW 4: CH 5 (counts as DC, chain 3), DC in same CH-2 space (1st corner V stitch), CH 2;
CL in next 4 DC, CH 2,
VS in next chain-2 space, CH 2;
CL in next 4 DC, CH 2,

NOTE: Rather than trying to find the top loop in the first HTC, it is much faster and easier to skip it and crochet twice in the 2nd loop.
