This was made for a very special baby in my extended family who has a wonderful mixed heritage with forebears from England, Scotland, Ireland and Poland. I wanted to mark this lovely happenstance, so I adapted motifs for Roses, Thistles, Shamrocks and Poppies ( which are an informal symbol of Poland.)

Th blanket was knitted in the round, from a provisional cast-on and steeked with machine-stitch reinforcement, and a moss ( seed) stitch border knitted up from the two sides and the live stitches at the ends.

Lining was a bit of a challenge due to my lack of sewing skills, and in the end I had a tailor make the lining which I hand-stitched on.
