Notes

Used US 8’s to get 3.5 stitches per inch. Followed directions for 2-3 years size, but knit length to 7” before beginning decreases.

Cast on horns using US 3’s and worsted weight yarn in a cute contrasting pink. Going to stuff and sew the horns on just above the earflap join row. Also going to do jumbo lime green pompoms at the end of the icords.

My one complaint with this yarn is that there were so many cuts in one ball! In one hat I had something like 8 cuts - yikes! But the fabric is so very soft and fluffy, that it’s really hard to complain.

For the ears I simplified the decreases so I could process it better - I divided the 20 ear stitches between one front and one back DPN and picked up 2 stitches per DPN from the side of the center panel.

Then I rearranged the decrease pattern into the following:
K1, SSK, Knit to 3 stitches before end of dpn, K2tog, K1

and worked according to the pattern until final ear shaping.

Tried on the hat in the mirror and pinned the stuffed horns in place, then attached. I love this!
