Notes

Went with my leftover BMFA Socks That Rock silky “Typhoon Tina”.

The short row section at the start of the flaps is a bit strange. I ended up doing the YO before turning the work, and that seemed to help.

I also found the setup row for the buttonholes to be fidgety. Basically I just had to plow through, even though it felt wrong. It turned out okay, my stitch count was fine.

Others have used a provisional CO, and since I’m actually using 2 different US 1 needles, I’d say it’s worth the time, definitely faster than picking up stitches. I’m giving it a try on the left glove.

Used the provisional cast-on for the left glove, saved a fair amount of time on the edging.

Got a big bag of very old, beat-up buttons off of etsy. Should be perfect to finish off the slightly steampunk-esque look that I’m hoping to achieve.

7/13/2012 Finished sewing buttons on. Ultimately I ended up stitching up the body, and just leaving the flap free. The buttons can be buttoned and unbuttoned, but the flap itself is decorative now, instead of functional. I’m quite pleased with the end result.
