I left my fingerless gloves at a friend’s, and my hands have been cold…so I quickly made these last night then added the edging this morning.
I crochet big. Every pattern I gauge, I find I have to go down 1-2 hook sizes. Keep this in mind.
Simply, I used a G hook and Impeccable Yarn (worsted solid), chained 30, and single crocheted for 25 rows. I crocheted the sides up together, leaving a thumb hole in each mitt. Then I switched to an F hook & did the trim: the bottom is a row of single crochet and then a picot edge. For the part near my fingers, I did a row of single crochet in every stitch, then a single crochet in every other stitch, thus decreasing it for a better fit. Cuz ya know how crochet stretches. (That blue is a Red Heart Love worsted yarn.)
This trim also makes the mitts look less like gray tubes, and helps me know (without looking for the thumb holes) which end is the pull-on end. Cuz I need that kind of help. :)
after posting, a friend made these with some adjustments, one of which was some more building up from the thumb…I loved that idea and added it, so the last 3 photos are of that adjustment…they seem more “finished” to me this way (thanks, Jeanie!!)
