I bought this kit (I actually bought two for free postage) with my friend Paula in mind. I didn’t realise her birthday is next week so I cast on rather hastily today.

Finished the first mitt quickly and I’m very happy with how it look overall.

Realised quickly that I somehow misread the pattern and therefore made an error on the double knitting section of the cuff (the flag). I had wondered why it looked wonky- it was because I did each colour as one row rather than two. I managed to do it correctly (never done double knitting before) on the second cuff, though somehow I think I did double the number of red rows as I should). I don’t have time to fix the mistakes since Paula’s birthday is on Thursday and I also don’t think she’ll notice or care.

Made another huge error and realised that I had accidentally made two left mitts once I had finished the fair isle on the second one. This was a mistake that I couldn’t really let go so I unravelled. I’ve now pretty much finished both gloves, but sewing in the ends is going to be a pain.
