Notes

Working size 2, I’m modifying the stripe sequence to have something a little bit more dynamic. I’ll work cc1 13 times, cc2 7 times, cc3 11 times and cc4 6 times for the same total number of repeats. I LOVE the texture of the stitch, and this is making me love colour work more than I ever thought possible. I’m definitely making a mini version of this for my little one!

09-03-2022

I’m almost done with cc4. I never ever swatch, and checking my current unwashed gauge, I seem to be knitting quite a bit tighter than the gauge. Maybe I should’ve sized up on needle size. The sweater will still fit for sure, but might not be as loose as the recommended fit. I’ll try to block it a bit more aggressively to see if I can stretch it out a bit. Since it’s all natural fibres (hemp, cotton, etc.) I’m fairly confident once wet I’ll be able to get some stretch out of it.

3 repeats away from completing the back. It’s looking amazing so far! Very excited.

15-03-2022

Finished the body yesterday, I washed it and blocked it to dimensions today. Surprisingly I was able to block it to 43” wide. We’ll see how it turns out. I think it might end up a bit cropped length wise but I think it’s gonna look fine.

16-03-2022

I still have a bit of mama brain fog it seems, as I blocked the body before working the neckband. Oh well, it’s all fine. And the width is perfect after blocking, but the sweater is indeed cropped. It measures 12” from the underarm to the hem, while it should be 13.75” for a total from shoulder to hem of 18” which is still pretty close to the more or less 19.5” ish it should be in the pattern. Even at full pattern length though this sweater would’ve looked cropped on my long torso anyway. And I guess I’m okay with the length as cropped suits me well anyway. For next time though, I think I’ll definitely size up to 3.5 and 4mm needles instead of 3.25-3.75 and I’ll add 2or 3 pattern repeats to each colour block.

17-03-2022

I have pretty good arms, and I don’t like sleeves too tight so I’m omitting all sleeve decreases. I will either go with a straight loose sleeve with rolled up hem or I’ll go with a balloon sleeve with ribbed cuff.

25-03-2022

DONE! For the sleeves, I went with puff sleeves longer than the body. I knitted straight until desired length, then did a round of decreases before starting the ribbing. I did k2tog, k5 until the end. 10 sts decreased, 60 left. I started the robbing but decided it was still too big. I was too lazy to frog and start over the rib so I just decreased again another 10 sts halfway through the cuff. I think I did 5 decreases evenly spaced, decrease was sl1 as if to knit, k2tog, PSSO. All in all, I’m quite happy with the result, I’m sure I’ll get a lot of wear out of it! I can’t wait to make a mini version for my little girl heart
