Notes

07-04-2022

CO 140 sts on 4 mm needle. Working the bottom edge in 1x1 rib instead of twisted rib.

08-04-2022

10 rows of ribbing at the bottom edge, then 7 pattern repeats of each colour.

13-04-2022

I worked 7 repeats of the 4 first colours, then separated the front and back after the third repeat of colour 5. I casted on 1 additional stitch on the front and the back. For the front, I worked 2 more repeats even, then separated the shoulder (25 sts each) and neck stitches (21 sts). Over the next 4 rows, I decreased 1 st every row on the neck side of the shoulders. Then I worked in even pattern until I reached 7 full repeats of colour 5 and 2 repeats of colour 6. On the left side I worked a button band for the heck closure. For the back, I worked even until I reached a total of 7 repeats of colour 5 and 3 repeats of colour 6. I used the 3 needle bind off for the right shoulder, and bound off the stitches for the left shoulder where the buttons will be.

14-04-2022

I wanted to keep with the spirit of the pattern with loose body and tight sleeves, but in hindsight, I should’ve made the armholes larger. I think they ended up a bit too small. I could’ve started the neckline higher (in cc6) or separated the front and back at the start of cc5.

Also in hindsight - should’ve knitted the neckband first then the button band to go above it. Also knitted the neckband on 3,5mm, but should’ve downsized a second time to 2.5 or 3 on the last couple rows and bind off.

15-04-2022

Sleeves are 33sts around, knitted 55 rows long. Then reduced 1 st, and proceeded to knit 11 rows in 1x1 rib. The sleeves are indeed tight… I don’t know how long this sweater will fit but we’ll take advantage of every minute!
