Waffle Rectangle Afghan
Notes:
- Work in 3s
- Try to match corners
- Multiples of 3 + 6 (I chained 60)
- Project worked on and off throughout the years, put to the side as I worked on other projects.
Pattern
Round 1:
Dc in 5th chain from hook (Dc + Ch 1), 2 Dc in same chain, Ch 1, Dc in same chain to form Corner.
Corners: Dc, Ch 1, 2Dc, Ch 1, Dc all in same chain
Sides: Dc in each chain.
In last chain of Row:
Dc, Ch 1, 2Dc, Ch 1, Dc all in same chain
Work opposite side in the same fashion as above.
Slip Stitch into 3rd chain.
Slip Stitch into Ch 1 space to begin next round.
Since I was using a cake I altered the pattern so I didn’t have to turn my work. The changed Rounds are below.
Do Not Turn Repeat Rounds as follows:
Round 2 (WS):
Ch 3,
Sides: BPDC around next 2 Dc,
Dc top of next Stitch
Note: Dc top of previous round FPDC
Corners: ** In Chain 1 Space- Dc, Ch 1, Dc **

Slip Stitch into beginning of Chain 3.
Round 3 (RS):
Slip Stitch into Ch 1 space,
Ch 4 (Dc + Ch 1), 2Dc,
Sides: FPDC around next Dc,
DC in next 2 Dc Stitches
Corners: In Chain 1 Space- 2Dc, Ch 1, 2Dc
Repeat Sides **
Repeat Corners ** **
Into last corner- Dc, Slip Stitch into Ch 3.
Slip Stitch into Ch 1 space to begin next round.
Repeat Rounds 2 & 3 for pattern
Finished RS Round before Border.

1 Round, On RS , Reverse Sc (aka Crab Stitch) around edging.
