My oldest son declared I don’t knit much for him and he needs a new Mama-knit hoody. As you wish, my son.
Plan is to do some custom mods- knitting flat, adding a 6-stitch button band to each front edge and maybe a hood, lining with a cotton knit, using a parka zipper closure.

5/6- Realized a few inches in that I was 10sts off in my count. Ugh. Ribbit.

5/8- Finally back to where I frogged from. Onward to the underarm!

Mods:
-12 extra sts CO(6 for each button band)
-6sts garter at the beginning and end of each row
-body 11” from hem to underarm
-CO 32 sts for each sleeve, size 9 needles for ribbing, 10 for body, same 4 increases, 12 inches in length

5/19- Done. Thankfully. Too many mods to keep adding them. For the record, I love this design. I have adored it for YEARS. The pattern, though, leaves MUCH to be desired. Such a bummer. This sweater was supposed to be a 7/8 for growing room for G. Because of the horrible lay-out, really unclear instructions, AND GAUGE CHANGE WITHIN THE PATTERN!!!!! The only thing that saved it at all was that I was modifying it SO MUCH that I was going by measurements, etc. It will just barely fit right now for the summer. No way it will fit him all summer. :-( Oh well. In 3 years maybe Aar can wear it. :-/ Hoping by some miracle the yarn blooms when I wash and block it so it fits him MAYBE through this fall, because goodness knows there’s little need for wool sweaters in this neck of the woods until October or November.
