The first time I saw this gorgeous design of Linda’s I fell in love with it, however I was not sure whether this more than unusual shape would look good on me. But looking at other knitter’s finished dresses - all of them are really nice - I thought “why not give it a try”?
I put it on my queue, and when a dear friend of mine surprised me with the pattern on my last birthday, I had no excuse to wait any longer.
And here I am with my finished Aibell. It is time to wear it because soon it will be too warm for it.
I started knitting with 3 mm needles but after completing the rib part I realized that it was too small and that I would never be able to walk in it. Therefore I started again with 3,5 mm needles and everything was fine.
The pattern is very clear and well written, knitting Aibell was much easier than expected.
I am glad that I knitted also the cowl, because the dress is very warm and cozy and I need to keep my neck warm as well. But also because I feel that the dress without the cowl doesn’t look right (on me). The neck area looks somewhat “naked” and the dress as if it was lacking something. However I think that my cowl has turned out a bit too wide/high and wearing it as it is makes me feel uncomfortable (the overall look of the uncommon dress + high cowl is too extravagant for my taste). I think that I will wear the cowl folded down to the inside, as I like it better that way at the moment (who knows, perhaps I change my mind).
I am really happy with my new dress, thank you, Linda, for this beautiful design!
