Notes

I love, love, love this jacket! It was love at first sight when I saw Veta’s and all the other lovely Minnesota Roses, and I knew that I had to make one for myself.

I sewed all the parts together a few weeks ago but it took me some time to find the buttons that I wanted. Finally I found them last week. I am so happy to have finished this jacket! My only regret is that it is too hot now to wear it.

Due to my gauge I cast on for the smallest size, but to get the right length of the jacket I had to knit more rows and followed the directions given for the bigger sizes.

I followed the pattern strictly except for the sleeves; I found that 114 stitches were “too much” and cast on 92 stitches only.

And I have to confess that the flowers are embroidered on the finished front panels (I tried the fair isle technique but the result was a disaster).

Edit (18th October 2011):
I have finally worn it today. I ended up sewing together the two front parts to avoid the gaps between the buttons (they didn’t look nice). Having a look at the pictures taken I have noted that I should have sewn together the two holes at both belt tunnel ends. I will do it this evening.

I still love my Minnesota Rosa, of course! But if had to knit it again, I would try to make the torso a bit longer and to make the sleeves even more narrow.

Edit (13th March 2012):
I have changed some of the pictures because I didn’t like the old ones and in the meantime I have sewn the belt holes together. The jacket looks much better now.

Edit (09th May 2013):
I have changed the pictures again (I looked so upset in the old ones that I was not happy with them).
