Pattern & Yarn provided by TheKnitShopGirls ~ for display at the 2012 StitchesEast event.
Hook used: CGOA Collectible designed by www.Brainsbarn.com
My gauge is “dead on.” No adjustments needed. :)
Notes:
-
Pattern calls for chain then working sts; to give fabric more stretch I opted to use the “half-double foundation chain” method.
-
For my hdc decreases, the traditional method seems bulky to me. I did my hdc decreases as follows: yo, insert hook into st #1, yo and pull up loop, insert hook into st #2 and pull up loop, yo and draw through all loops on hook. Using this method I have eliminated one yo, making the decrease look a little less bulky.

I thought at first that I would not enjoy using this yarn as the initial feel is a bit rough. With the back and some of the front worked up, my opinion on the yarn has changed: the stitches look crisp and feels softer than anticipated. I suspect it will soften further after it is blocked…
-
Eleven hours into the project and both front and back pieces are complete and are awaiting blocking. Note to self: sofa seems to eat stitch markers like chips; buy more!
TIP: Working on the sleeves; since pattern states to work to X measurement before adding the cap, it is important to get as accurate measurement as possible. I shook the work out hard a few times and then measured; this should get me as close to the measurement I want prior to blocking.
- all pcs are done and are wet-blocking. (In picture I’m using my Breast Cancer Pins by Singer.) All that is left is assembly & edging. :)
The only other change I made to this pattern was the seaming; I prefer to mattress stitch the seams together. Pattern was well written & enjoyable. :)
This garment was shown at the StitchesEast Fashion Show. Unfortunately the model did not have the curves this garment was designed for (see last picture).
