Navajo plying the thread.
Tried to cast on with figure-8 and it didn’t work. So today I did Channel Island cast-on of 102 stitches. k2p2 ribbing for 1” then http://www.socknitters.com/argyle/charta.htm
Gauge in ribbing is 3.5 stitches per centimetre 7.5 rows per centimetre. 16 st to inch. So I’m screwed. It’s only 6.875 inches around and it needs to be 9 inches. So I need to add 2.125”. As it is knitted flat… I can add a panel but I need to take out the heel I’ve been working on and cast on stitches there. (deep breath) 17 stitches on each side of the center.
6-1-12 OK. I’ve put it aside for awhile because I got to the heel and I wasn’t sure how to do it flat. What I’m going to do is I’m going to take the first 1/4 stitches and the last 1/4 stitches and put them on a needle and work a short row sweet tomato heel then split again to do the foot, rejoin for the toe then seam foot and leg.
7-3-12 Just the one sock. So NEVER making one of these ever again. Had to take breaks because my fingers would get warm and the thread and stitches wouldn’t slide.
