After a lot of swatching to choose a pattern for this blanket, I started with CO 180 st + 12 for the border, to get an approx width of 90 cm (35½“).

I bought a 500g pack of yarn, I used it all (well, there’s a less-than-a-row scrap) and I managed to make a few cm more than the standard lenght of 120 cm (47”).

Notes about the pattern:
_ The border tends to be wider and shorter than the rest. I knitted the side borders looser and top and bottom borders tighter to compensate.
_ The patterned part tends to pull in horizontally, so even after blocking the blanket is actually about 86 cm wide. Yes, I could block it harder, but I’d lessen the waffle effect.

Dopo numerosi tentativi per scegliere il punto, comincio la copertina avviando 180 maglie + 12 per il bordo, per arrivare ad una larghezza approssimativa di 90 cm.

Ho comprato mezzo chilo di filato e l’ho usato tutto (be’, ho un avanzo con cui non avrei finito un ferro) e sono riuscita a fare qualche cm in più dei 120 cm di lunghezza standard.

Note sul modello:
_ Il bordo tende ad essere più largo e basso del resto. Ho lavorato i bordi laterali più molli e i bordi in alto e in basso più stretti per compensare.
_ La parte operata tende a stringersi in orizzontale, per cui anche dopo la messa in forma la coperta in realtà è larga 86 cm. Sì, avrei potuto tirarla di più, ma si sarebbe perso l’effetto del rilievo.
