I used a very special combination of Merino, Camel and Silk -- purchased as Top from the Great Lakes Fiber Festival.
I met Sharon through my sister in law, Tric. We hit it off immediately! Sharon was such a great friend to Tric, and was there for her in good times and in bad. Tric’s journey with ovarian cancer was made lighter by Sharon’s love and positive outlook.
This stole/scarf really looks so natural around her neck -- it’s the magic of handspun -- it finds the right project and the right person!
Description of the Crane Stole from the Elann website
Cranes are ancient symbols of fidelity, luck, happiness, wisdom, and long life. They have been revered by many cultures, including Asian, Aegean, Arabian, and Native American, for thousands of years. In mythology, cranes were believed to live a thousand years and are symbols of immortality. Crane dances have been performed at temples and weddings since ancient times, and cranes are embroidered on Japanese wedding kimonos. The birds mate for life and perform a graceful, jumping courtship dance with their elegantly plumed wings held aloft. Cranes dance at times for unknown reasons, but with abandon and joy. This stole was inspired by the beautiful cranes and their spectacular dance and is based on the Japanese Feather stitch.
