1/12/13- I am seriously considering renaming this project “The Never Ending Blanket” or “This Took for Bloody Ever”. It is tedious and it is a lot of garter stitch. A lot. I am trying to be faithful and only work on this blanket at home. This is the only project I have on the needles except for socks (portable) which don’t count.
My friend Sarah is a finesse quilter. Her quilts are so beautiful. She tried (really hard) to teach me to quilt and I suck at it. Unlike knitting, quilting isn’t very forgiving. You can’t “rip back” mistakes or even everything out in blocking. Hence I am knitting my own quilt. I will back it with something minky and luxurious.
I have only completed two strips and I already have garter stitch fatigue. My mind wanders while I knit it and I dream about all the things I wish I were knitting.
This will be a bedspread for our guest bedroom. I don’t go into the guest bedroom very often - which is a good thing because by the time I finish this blanket I won’t be ready to look at it again for a looooooooong time.
1/19/13 - row 3 of the blanket from Hell is done. It is not as long as I was expecting. It may take 7 rows instead of 6. Unless I completely lose my shit and frog it by then.
2/14/13- the monster is 44” long and 58” wide - without borders. It is 2/3 finished which means I expect it to be 66” long and 58” wide sans border. Approx 68” 60” with border when complete
4/12/13 - finally!!!! Knitting and weaving is done. Sipping champagne as I write this in celebration of never knitting a double sized bedspread again. Tomorrow starts the hunt for backing fabric. But the worst is behind me :)
