11/9/12 - I made the second size and it fits my schnauzer beautifully.

I hemmed and hawed about the hood since it is purely ornamental but am glad I included it - it is über cute.

This pattern is very awkwardly written. It is actually more straightforward than it seems. Know that you are casting on at the neck and knitting down to end at the base of the tail. Could easily be adapted for knitting in the round - which I will do if I make this pattern again.

Used 1.5 skeins.
