Making for donation bag gift for GS Troop. Pattern called for 4.0 mm hook, but found that this was giving a result that was too dense for my liking. Ripped out and found a better texture with 4.5 mm hook.

• Diameter 5.25” after completion of increases (at 60 sts). Calculating width (diameter x 3.14), hat is roughly 16.5” around, which should be appropriate with negative ease.

• Length from top of crown to bottom edging is 6.“

• Modified pattern; worked beginning 10 increase rounds in sc as established, then switched to hdc for body of hat. Based on measurements, 16 rounds (rows 11-26) that would have been in sc would have measured 4.25.“ As a result, worked 4.25” in hdc to compensate for change in stitch pattern.

• Worked 7 rounds of hdc after initial 10 rounds of sc; ended with one round of sc as edging.

• Not working earflaps or ears.

• Attached “Future Girl Scout” badge obtained from online Girl Scout store.
